Getting started
How does Santai work?
Open the app and tap Surprise Me. Santai finds restaurants near you and picks one at random, shown on the map with its rating and distance. If you’re not feeling it, swipe the suggestion away and spin again.
Why does Santai need my location?
Location is how Santai finds restaurants near you. It’s used only while you’re in the app, sent to Google Places solely to fetch nearby results, and never stored on our servers.
If you denied the permission and want to re-enable it: open iOS Settings → Apps → Santai → Location and choose “While Using the App.”
Do I need an account?
No — the free experience works without one. An account (email or Sign in with Apple) is only needed for Premium features like favourites and history, so they can sync across your devices.
No restaurants are showing up. What can I do?
A few things to try, in order:
- Check that location permission is enabled and you have an internet connection.
- Open the in-app Settings and increase the search radius or the number of results.
- Lower the minimum rating filter, or turn off “Open Now” if it’s late.
- If you have cuisine filters applied, reset them — a very narrow filter can return nothing.
Premium & billing
What does Santai Premium include?
Premium is a monthly subscription that unlocks favourites, history, cuisine filters, an extended search radius, and AI menu previews. Everything else stays free, forever.
How do I restore my purchase on a new device?
Subscriptions are tied to your Apple Account. On your new device, sign in with the same Apple Account, then open Santai — your subscription is picked up automatically. If it doesn’t appear, use Restore Purchases in the app’s settings.
How do I cancel my subscription?
All billing is handled by Apple, so cancellation happens there — not in the app:
- Open iOS Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Santai Premium.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
You keep Premium until the end of the current billing period. Santai never charges you directly and cannot see your payment details.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple Account, and choose the Santai Premium purchase.
Privacy & data
What data does Santai collect?
As little as possible: your location (used in real time, never stored), your email or Apple identifier if you create an account, and your favourites and history if you’re a Premium user. No ads, no tracking, no selling of data. The full details are in our privacy policy.
How do I delete my account and data?
In the app, open Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, favourites, and history from our servers. If you can’t access the app, email us and we’ll delete it for you within 30 days.
Where do the AI menu previews come from?
Menu previews are generated by Google Gemini from the restaurant’s name. They’re a helpful guess at popular items — not the official menu — so availability and prices can differ at the restaurant.
